This lovely infrared, black and white image, I photographed on my early morning walk at Wild Dunes, Isle of Palms, South Carolina. I noticed the oak reaching entirely across the tidal channel, as though it absolutely had to connect with something on the other side. Trees are just amazing creatures on this planet and I love photographing them.
I also love infrared black and white and have a dedicated camera that is converted to only capture infrared. Photographing in this spectrum can yield stunning and unique results. Infrared photography captures wavelengths of light that are beyond the visible spectrum, giving a surreal and ethereal appearance to the images. Oak trees are particularly interesting subjects for infrared photography due to their distinct foliage and texture.
