The San Antonio Missions are now on my short list for bridal portraits! They are beautiful! And anyone wanting an "old world" look for their bridal portraits will be in Heaven! Mission Concepcion was the particular mission where I photographed this beautiful bride, featured in this blog post. Just as picturesque, was Mission San Jose, however, there was a parish event being set up, and we were not able to photograph there.
That is one big consideration when looking at the Missions for your portraits...you do have to schedule well in advance, and around the church schedule. There is a fee for accessing the Missions but it is very reasonable.
I would actually recommend the winter months for photography at the San Antonio missions...for two reasons. One...it will be cooler. Two...we will be OFF daylight savings time. The missions close at 5pm, and in the winter months, this is ideal timing (sunset in Nov. is about 515pm). However, when ON DST, in the Spring, Summer, and early Fall, sunset is much later. Why am I so focused on sunset? Because an hour before and after sunset, is the most beautiful outdoor lighting that there is, for photographic portraits. Just a key element to consider, if you can!
Overall, these missions, built in the 1700's, are just beautiful, old world "jewels" to consider for your portraits...especially bridal portraits! I did visit all four of the missions, and, Mission Concepcion as well as Mission San Jose, are my picks for portrait sites. Take a look at these lovely portraits and call, or email me to book your portrait session soon! 713-542-4517 ; photos@membymaryanne.com; www.membymaryanne.com
